Royal 2° (412 x 289mm). A full sheet of 4 pages, 48 lines, double column. Type: 5:118G (Durandus colophon-type). Watermark: rosette. 8 pinholes in the sheet visible. Contemporary German decoration and rubrication: an 8-line initial in pink with white scrolling foliate decoration with extensions on a green frame ground opening Judges, 2-line initials, chapter numbers and book name in headline in blue and red, MS rubric headings and capital strokes in red. (Spotted, tears at fold.) Loose, old paper portfolio. Provenance: 19th-century ink note in lower margin identifying the work.

A full sheet of 4 pages of the first dated Bible and the fourth edition of the Vulgate Bible. Also known as the 48-line Bible, it was preceded only by the 42-line Gutenberg Bible at Mainz, the 36-line Pfister Bible at Bamberg, and the 49-line Mentelin Bible at Strassburg.
