A pale celadon jade carving of a mythical beast, 18th/19th century
carved as a ferocious qilin with dragon-like face and a double-horned head, lying recumbent and looking back whilst holding in its mouth a sprig of lingzhi fungus supporting a book, the ribbed body flanked by winged shoulders and terminating in a bushy tail, with the legs tucked under the belly, the pale celadon stone with white inclusions, wood stand -- 3 1/8in. (7.9cm.) long.
