the plain brass bedplate stamped 625, with 20-part sectional comb in groups of three teeth, in engraved and engine-turned case with floral relief running around the top edge, start/stop and (loose) change/repeat oval buttons and monogrammed panel on the lid, with silver-gilt interior, London, 1818 -3½in. (9cm) wide, the cylinder 2¼in. (5.7cm)

Lot Essay

The movement dates from circa 1850 and the only signs of adaption to fit this case are the later chassis screw holes. The maker's hallmark, J.B. is rubbed, but likely to be that of James Barrett. The change/repeat button is loose but present
