The handles here depict the theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity, along with one of the cardinal virtues, Justice. They are extremely close to a knife and fork set in the J. Hollander Collection (see J. Van Trigt, Cutlery - From Gothic to Art Deco, The J. Hollander Collection, Antwerp, 2003, p. 78, no. 133) described as Dutch, late 17th Century. In the same collection is a single knife dated to circa 1675 with an almost identical stamp to the one on the present knife (ibid, p. 78, no. 131).
