This panel belongs to a serie of cassone's fronts among which are the following related examples, including one depicting the virtues and vices, in The Hermitage, St Petersburg, see below; one in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris; and another one in the Museo di Palazzo Venezia, Rome. In most cases, the composition of the scenes are related to the designs of Antonio Pollaiuolo (1432-1498), the celebrated Florentine artist who shared with his brother Piero a busy workshop patronised by the Medici family. For related examples, see L. Faenson, (et. al.), Italian Cassoni, Leningrad, 1983, plates 33-37.
