A PAIR OF NORTH-ITALIAN CARVED WALNUT AND GROS-POINT NEEDLEWORK OPEN ARMCHAIRS

Each with rectangular back and padded seat covered with close-nailed gros-point needlework depicting a floral bouquet, the spirally-turned and foliate-carved armrests issuing from grotesque masks, on conformingly turned legs and joined by a boxed stetcher, the scrolling foliate pierced front stretcher carved with a coat-of-arms , the back of the front stretcher branded with a mark carrying the letters 'V' and 'P', restorations to the needlework (2)
