The laurel leaf-cast circlet with five chain-link suspension above a circular dish with urn-shaped reservoir mounted with Bacchic masks hung with fruiting swags, above a pierced scrolling border and five reeded branches emerging from foliage and with later globular glass shades, divided by pierced palmettes, with spirally reeded cut-glass shallow dish with berried foliate boss, fitted for electricity, the elements numbered 1-5 throughout, the chain numbered '3'

Lot Essay

The Regency 'antique' patterned colza lantern celebrates lyric poetry with its bacchic satyr-headed krater vase suspended from a palm-flower and displayed on a Grecian acrotia-capped, thyrsus-finialed and strigil-fluted tazza, whose crystal bowl is trellised with bacchic pine-cone ornament.
