The shaped rectangular top with a brass gallery to the rear, above a central frieze drawer with a cupboard on the left hand side and a mahogany-lined drawer with mahogany bottle-divide on the right, the left side with a small locked cupboard, on columnar tapering reeded legs, with vase feet, the handles later, the compartment behind the left side door originally with a division

Lot Essay

A drawing from the Gillows Estimate Sketch Book dated 6 June 1799, for a sideboard table with similar brass gallery, outset rounded corners and reeded legs was ordered in the London shop of Gillow for Mr. Fielding of Catterall, Lancashire (L. Boynton, Gillow Furniture Design 1760-1800, London, 1995, p. 166, fig. 92).
A similar sideboard was sold anonymously, Sotheby's, New York, 20-21 October 2003, lot 269 ($31,200).
