silver lithographed tinplate D-LZ 129 with German insignia to tailplane, celluloid propeller and key in original box --28cm. long, 1936-1939 (F-G, faint under-surface corrosion, box P)
Provenance
This toy was bought in Germany in the 1930s by the vendor's father, when employed as chaffeur-companion to a wealthy young man of right wing leanings who sometimes breakfasted in London, lunched in Paris and dined in Berlin. With their movements watched, the vendor was ordered by her mother to destroy it, but instead hid it under the stairs for the duration of the war.
