Lot Essay

James Opie describes the Roundhead and Cavalier figures in set H4702 as "acclaimed as some of the finest toy soldiers ever produced". These masters are the sculptor's original work, the point of creation for these remarkable figures. Their small scale does not diminish the tremendous power and tension inherent in them one jot.
