4° (240 x 190mm). Folding engraved map, and two engraved plans, one of these folding. (Map with small mostly marginal dampstains, light scattered spotting.) Green half-sheep, spine gilt in compartments (edges rubbed). Provenance: A.M. Troitskii (bookplate, binding).

'Golovnin served as the model for the cosmopolitan, professionally trained naval officer for future generations'; he was 'a talented and educated naval officer who was determined to defend and extend Russia's possessions in the Pacific' (Russia Engages the World, pp.113-14).
