2° (395 x 305mm). Chromolithographs within gilt-rule borders throughout after Ryadushkin, Samokish-Sudkovskaya, and others. (Occasional light spotting). Stitched, as issued, in the original white paper covers (light spotting).
A TALL, UNCUT COPY, IN THE ORIGINAL WHITE PAPER WRAPPERS. The gala opened with Glinka's Life of the Tsar -- one of the first Russian operas to be known outside of Russia, and the first native opera to secure a permanent place in the repertoire. The celebrations then continued with Marius Petipa's ballet The Pearl, which proved to be the greater success on the bill. Petipa remains one of Ballet's most influential Master.
