37 lithographed views (145 x 100mm), by Beggrov, all hand-coloured, trimmed to image and mounted in an album (165 x 215mm), contemporary Russian morocco by Nicolls and Plinke of St. Petersburg, front cover with gilt gothic border surrounding a view, lower cover with similar border around a blind-stamped centrepiece, original metal clasp and catch (rebacked preserving the original spine, one pastedown endpaper renewed, glass replaced). Custom-made clam-shell box, with compartment preserving the original glass. Provenance: Mlle. Virginie Dourbier (inscription dated 1857) -- Alexandre Sementchenkoff (bookplate; sold Christie's, 22 October 1987, lot 628).
VERY RARE, SUPERBLY HAND-COLOURED VIEWS OF ST. PETERSBURG, IN A HANDSOME RUSSIAN BINDING, from the scarce series of views issued during the 1820s and 1830s.
