ZIMIN, Grigorii (1901-1985). Scryabin v tantse Lukina. [Scriabin in the dance of Lukin]. Moscow: 1922.
2° (280 x 200mm). 10 plates by Zimin and 6 leaves of mimeographed text, including a duplicate of the leaf of captions. (Margins with light soiling and light creases, text leaves with short tears and small loss in margins.) Loose in the original printed portfolio (lacking back cover and spine, edges worn).
RARE FIRST EDITION, NUMBER 14 OF 100 COPIES ONLY. An anonymous publication with bold and striking compositions by Zimin to honour Lev Lukin, a proponent of the 'rhytmoplastic' trend in modern choreography. Lukin had staged choreographies based on Scriabin, and an event for Isadora Duncan called 'The Dance of a Free Body'. In 1924 he formed the Free Ballet group, hoping to leave the Soviet Union during a concert tour; instead he was exiled to Siberia. ABPC records no copy selling at auction for over 30 years. Not in The Russian Avant-Garde Book; Not in Hellyer. Kovtun Avangard Ostanovlennii Na Begu, St. Petersburg (1989), 453-461.
