Niccolo Bascarini for Giovanni Battista Pederzano. 8vo (160 x 100mm). Title with decorative woodcut borders, woodcut portrait of Ptolemy sighting stars, woodcut initials, and diagrams, upper blank margins of 2 or 3 maps neatly restored. 60 double-page engraved maps, 26 of the ancient world and 34 of the modern. (Lower margin of title torn with loss and neatly restored.) Green morocco by Leighton, spine lettered in gilt, covers with blind stamped arms of Stirling Maxwell g.e (joints and corners rubbed). Provenance: William Stirling Maxwell (book plate and binding).
