A new portable Orrery. London: [c.1792]. A table orrery, comprising brass sun with 6 brass and bone planets, and their moons, all on brass arms and a 9 inch diameter oak platform with printed base label showing quadrants, calendar and zodiac scales, with makers label, bun feet. The orrery is its original fitted mahogany case with key, (four small moons to Jupiter and Saturn lacking.) Box 12 x 27 x 27cm
A attractive late 18th century portable Gentleman's orrery in fine condition. William Jones was an optician, instrument and a globemaker and together with his brother Samuel ran a flourishing business in Holborn.
