A New American Atlas, designed principally to illustrate the Geography of the United States or North America. Philadelphia: Anthony Finley, 1826. 2° (482 x 330mm). Letterpress title and index, 15 hand-coloured engraved maps on 14 double-page sheets, by J.H. Young after D.H. Vance, dated 1824-6, mounted on guards throughout (Some light browning and offsetting, repaired marginal tear to title). Light blue papered boards (extremities rubbed). Modern blue cloth box. Provenance: Rittenhouse Club, Philadelphia (blindstamp to title).

Finley's comprehensive atlas of America, 'in which every county in each state and territory of the union is accurately delineated, as far as at present known'. An engraver, map and atlas publisher in Philadelphia, Finley also published his atlas in pocket form; the plates were later re-used by S. Augustus Mitchell from 1831. Phillips Atlases 1378.
