Lot Essay

Joseph Rebell painted in the same year, 1809, a very similar composition with identical measurements, that was in 1985 with Xaver Scheidwimmer, Munich. The present lot shows also very strong similarities with a finished drawing of 1808, offered with Dorotheum, Vienna, 14 October 1997, lot 188.
