Presented by the Queen of Norway, the pin with blue enamel cartouche and cipher MH for Maud Haakon, with rose-cut diamond detail and crown motif, accompanied by a hand written note stating presented to Commander R.C. Davenport HMS New Zealand by H.M. Queen of Norway who took passage from Bergen to Rosyth. November 1918, in fitted case

Maud Haakon 1869-1938, daughter of Edward VII and Alexandra and sister of George V, married King Haakon of Norway in 1896.

R.C.Davenport was Commander serving on H.M.S New Zealand, a notable ship that achieved great fame in her short life of ten years. H.M.S. New Zealand was presented to the Royal Navy by the New Zealand government, became part of the fleet of King Edward VII class and saw service during World War I including being present at the Battle of Jutland.

Commander R.C. Davenport retired as Vice Admiral and died in 1966.
