Château Cheval-Blanc--Vintage 1996
Saint-Emilion, 1er grand cru classé (A)
Tasting Note: First tasted at the château in April 1997. Neither very deep nor intense, but rich; a lovely, young scent, an extraordinarily peachy flavour to match. Chewy, attractive. At the MW tasting in November 2000, it looked as though it would be fairly quick maturing; very fragrant, this time 'soft raspberries'. Perfect balance. 'A charmer'. At the Rodenstock blind tasting mentioned above, much the same. Developing well. A Lovely wine. Last tasted March 2001. **** M.B.
