Château Margaux--Vintage 1978
Margaux, 1er cru classé
Slightly corroded capsules. Two bottles with slight signs of seepage. Levels: Three base of neck and three top-shoulder
Tasting Note: First tasted the 78 in April 79. Even then, soft and supple. The following January, opaque, ripe and fragrant. Showing well with magnificent, intense purple flesh. In 1987 showing spicy and silkily tannic. More recently, less deep, more mature, fully developed bouquet, nice texture but tannic and showing its age. Lastly in 1995, very consistent notes, quite good nose, a sort of static fragrance. Some sweetness, medium-full body and a tingle of end-acidity. *** M.B.
