Geneva, circa 1780/1790, maker's mark MC, with a 20-carat gold mark, the flange struck with inventory number 841, later struck with a Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty mark for gold
Oval box, the cover centred with a circular reserve engraved with taille d'épargne trophies of love on an enamelled ground simulating bloodstone, flanked by horizontal translucent blue enamel stripes and a blue enamel running ribbon outer border, the sides engraved with festoons and floral clusters and divided by four circular reserves similarly engraved with trophies of music and with flowers, the inside of the lid applied with a gold plaque engraved with a coat-of-arms
