A CONTINENTAL PARCEL-ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX
probably German, second half of the 19th century, struck with an 18-carat gold mark and two French import marks for gold 1864-1893
Flattened rectangular box, the cover and base centred by a circular gold cartouche within white enamel border and surrounded by a circular taille d'épargne gold and green enamel stylized ribbon-twist band, flanked by a pair of mirrored Chimaeras emerging from foliage engraved on a granulated ground, with an outer green and gold enamel ribbon-twist border, the concave sides with stylized acanthus leaves, slightly raised husk thumbpiece
