Lot Essay

Egton Bachelor of Howtown (b.1937) was bred by W. Ridley and sired by Ch. Guardsman from Maid's Model, a daughter of Haid of the Mountains. Egton became a champion winning two Challenge Certificates in 1938 (Richmond and Leeds), and a further two the following year (Gt. Joint Terrier Show and Blackpool).

Originally registered as Field Marshall, Egton Marshall of Howtown (b.1936) was also bred by W. Ridley and born of the same parents. He won three Challenge Certificates at three successive shows (Glasgow, Welks and the Great Joint Terrier Club show at London's Olympia).

Famed for breeding Lakeland Terriers, both Egton and Howtown Kennel names were owned by Mrs Graham Spence of Howtown, near Penrith.
