A GERMAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER TANKARD
REGENSBURG, CIRCA 1620, MAKER'S MARK MH CONJOINED, PERHAPS FOR MATTHEUS HASENBANK
Cylindrical and on spreading base, with gilt bands, the scroll handle applied with beading, the hinged cover with a finial modelled as a classical warrior supporting a vacant shield, with scroll and mask thumbpiece, engraved underneath 'WICH 4½ MARCKH', marked underneath

Provenance
Collected in Germany before 1900 by a surgeon who later moved to England
Then by descent to the current owner
