A GERMAN SILVER-GILT-MOUNTED COCONUT CUP IN THE FORM OF AN OWL
APPARENTLY UNMARKED, CIRCA 1640
Modelled as an owl and on a domed base chased with auricular ornament, the central coconut applied with wings and with a central medallion engraved with a coat-of-arms, with a detachable head, marked on base, head and neck with an Austrian tax mark for largework 1806-07
8½ in. (21.5 cm.) high
The arms are those of the Grafs von Auffenstein
