According to the accompanying letter, the guitar in this lot and the harmonica in the previous lot were owned by Ray Sohm who met Dylan when he lived in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1972. During the summer of 1972, Sohm, along with some other friends, would often go on camping and rafting trips with Dylan in Arizona and further afield in Idaho and Mexico. Dylan would leave his more expensive instruments at home during these trips so the guitar and the harmonica offered here became Dylan's instruments of choice. Dylan is pictured in the accompanying photographs not only playing the guitar in this lot but also cooking in the outdoors, hiking and playing football, providing a rare glimpse into the man behind the myth.
