Lot Essay

Roos' drawings, because of their subject matter, have often been compared with those of Castiglione. A drawing in the same technique, also formerly attributed to Castiglione, from the Janos Scholz Collection, is now in the Pierpont Morgan Library (J. Scholz, Italian Master Drawings 1350-1800 from the Janos Scholz Collections, New York, 1776, no. 108, as Castiglione).
