Lot Essay

Although very few landscape studies by Lafage are known, a drawing of Artists sketching ruins in Rome now in the Louvre suggests that he did occasionally turn his hand to plein-air studies (J. Arvengas, Raymond Lafage, dessinateur, Paris, 1965, fig. 39).
