RUSSIAN, 18TH CENTURY
Christ on the cross, wearing a loincloth and the crown of thorns, the Lord Sabaoth holding the Globe and emerging from the clouds above, the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove with outstretched wings hovers beneath, at the left extremity the Mother of God and Mary Magdalene, at the opposite side John and Longinus; on the reverse, Saint Nicholas blessing and holding the Gospels, with the representation of the Last Supper above, the image of 'Mother do not weep for me' at the left and four selected saints at the right, painted with deep colours, the faces softly modelled, against orange background
