Perhaps originally part of a door, the lion represented partly in relief, partly in the round, reclining at one end of a long rectangular plinth, his head raised above his forepaws, his tail coiling along his proper right flank, with rounded ears and a tufted mane, one eye preserving gold overlay, a ledge above projecting from a flange across the lion to the back of his head
