A GREEK BRONZE SATYR
HELLENISTIC PERIOD, CIRCA 2ND-1ST CENTURY B.C.
The lissome figure depicted nude, his musculature well modelled, standing with his left leg advanced, his right heel slightly lifted, his torso and shoulders twisted to his right, his head turned right and angled down, his characteristic scent glands prominent on his neck, his expressive face with the eyes originally inlaid, traces of silver preserved, with full cheeks and pointed ears, his hair a mass of thick unruly locks, the left arm at his side, the index finger extended, likely once holding an attribute, perhaps a pedum, his short tail at the small of his back
