Fabriquée en édition limitée à 17 exemplaires seulement, la montre "Siena" a été créée en 1987 à l'occasion de l'exposition célébrant à New York le dixième anniversaire de la Maison JAR. Cette montre originale, au cadran en marbre de Carrare ne comportant qu'une seule aiguille, tire son inspiration de la pendule de la Torre del Mangia, campanile médiéval dominant la magnifique place du Campo de Sienne où chaque été, se dispute la célèbre course du Palio. Cet écho à l'architecture toscane du XIVème siècle démontre une fois de plus la variété des thèmes qui inspirent Joel Rosenthal, dont les références vont de l'art occidental, que ce soit peinture, architecture ou littérature, aux civilisations anciennes et bien sûr à la nature. L'alliance du marbre des carrières toscanes de Carrare et du dessin de l'aiguille recréent ici, en miniature, une évocation précieuse de l'un des hauts-lieux de la culture italienne. The Siena watch was designed on the occasion of the exhibition celebrating in New York the 10th anniversary of the Maison JAR. Limited edition of 17 pieces. This unusual watch features a Carrare marble dial and single hand. It echoes the Torre del Mangia's clock situated in the heart of the majestic Campo in Siena where the famous Palio horse race is held every year. As a testimony of 14th century Tuscan architecture, it reflects once again the variety of themes which inspire Joel Rosenthal, from occidental art (painting, architecture or literature) to ancient civilizations and of course, nature. By combining the Tuscan Carrare marble and the design of the single hand, JAR recreates through this miniature version, a precious reminder of one of the most important historical sites in Italy.
