Lot Essay

The present lot is based on an earlier Kangxi-period bowl with an identical design; cf. the example from the T. Y. Chao Collection, sold Sotheby's Hong Kong, 18 November 1986, lot 139. The only other published bowl with this rare pattern and Yongzheng reign mark was included in the Exhibition of Chinese Art, Messrs. C. T. Loo, New York, 1941, Catalogue no. 729.
