Potted with flaring rounded sides supported on a splayed foot encircled by a moulded horizontal rib, covered in a dark olive-green glaze with yellow speckling, the interior of the hollow stem foot incised with the three-character hallmark, Zhiben tang, in archaistic seal script

A larger teadust stembowl of this form with the same mark, from the Yokogawa Collection in the Tokyo National Museum, is illustrated in Sekai Toji Zenshu, vol. 12, Tokyo, 1956, fig. 65; a pair was sold at Sotheby's London, 10 December 1985, lot 249; and a single stemcup of smaller size was also sold in London, 9 June 2004, lot 204.
