A PAIR OF CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL PEWTER VASES, GU
QIANLONG CAST SIX-CHARACTER MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)

Each gu-shaped vase cast with complex archaistic designs infilled with bright sapphire-blue enamel, around the trumpet neck, bulbous mid-section and spreading foot with taotie, divided by pendent lappet bands and angular chilong borders, with the reign mark cast in a panel on the mouth rim, all against angular diaper grounds

An identical pair of vases, forming part of a five-piece garniture, is photographed in situ on the altar on the third floor of the Pavilion of Raining Flowers, published in Cultural Relics of Tibetan Buddhism Collected in the Qing Palace, Hong Kong, 1992, p. 148, pl. 109-1.
