Oblong 4o (223 x 328 mm). All engraved with title and 12 plates by Wenceslas Hollar and Gaywood after Barlow, four signed in the plate, the plates divided into two series both numbered 1 to 6, each with an engraved heading and explanatory quatrain. Modern calf antique.
OF GREAT RARITY, this is "one of the first of the long line of British illustrated sporting books" (Hodnet Francis Barlow p. 106). The 12 plates had previously been published under the title Severall Ways of Hunting, Hawking and Fishing in 1671. Subjects include: "Stagg Hunting," "Partridge Hawking," "Angling," "River Fishing," and "Salmon Fishing." W & S p.23; Petit 149.
