L'oeuvre de Charles Cottet est à placer sous le signe d'une religiosité primitive marquée qui trouve un écho particulier dans la piété du peuple breton. L'artiste se plaît à interpénétrer le sacré et le profane dans ses oeuvres, comme ici, où ces bretonnes 'auréolées' de blanc sont traitées comme de véritables madones.
