The society wedding on 1st June 1904 of Miss Florence Lascelles, daughter of Sir Franck Cavendish Lascelles, British Ambassador to Berlin and the late Lady Lascelles to Mr (later Sir) Cecil Arthur Spring-Rice, at the time First Secretary of the British Embassy at St. Petersburg, was well reported in the press. Among the gifts listed were 'a blue enamel umbrella top from Sir Francis Montefiore' and 'Green enamel umbrella top from Russian Ambassador'. It would appear that the former is the present lot in the case of the latter.
