Lot Essay

The miniature of the Tsar is after an original by Isabey. The view of Geneva seen from Pregny is after a print by Hackeart.

The musical movement is very similar in style to a musical box belonging to the Musée de l'Horlorgerie and can be attributed to Daniel Berton, a maker working in Geneva in the early 19th century associated with Remond and then with Piguet, Meylan and Favre.
