A Soviet porcelain propaganda plate
by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, period of Nicholas II, 1912, with later State Porcelain Factory blue overglaze mark of hammer, sickle and cog, dated 1921
Circular, Cubist design with Hammer and Sickle, after a design by Sergei Chekhonin, the emblems depicted around the centre in ciselé gilding with red and black handles and the black section of a cog, within green and purple bands, the border with black, red, blue and yellow shapes, the rim with bands of green, and gilt, marked under base
9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) diam.
