AN INTERESTING ANTIQUE EMERALD AND DIAMOND RING
The central rectangular-cut emerald to the old-cut diamond shoulders in closed back bezel setting to the engraved gold hoop, the inside set with a lock of hair and engraved with monogram 'VR' for Victoria Regina, 28 June 1838, ring size K 1/2, in original blue velvet case signed Rundell, Bridge and Co., Jewellers & Goldsmiths, To The Queen and Royal Family, 32 Ludgate Hill
Provenance
On 28 June 1838, Her Royal Highness Princess Victoria of Kent (1819-1901), was crowned Queen at Westminster Abbey. This ring was given by Queen Victoria to her Maid of Honour, Lady Ann McKenzie. The ring was bequeathed to her niece and goddaughter, Lady Alice Wentworth Fitzwilliam, and thence by descent.
