Lot Essay

Giuliano took inspiration from an eclectic range of sources - first classical, often Renaissance, and sometimes Indian influences are clearly recognisable in his work, such as in this necklace, which is strung in the Indian taste. The presentation, however, is highly classical: the way it is laid out in its fitted box suggests the outline of a lyre, the ancient Greek instrument of leisure.
