Provenance
This painting was a gift from the artist to the Governor of Jiangsu Province, and China, Mr. Liu Shunyuan. Liu was from Shandong Province, and was an enthusiast for Fu Baoshi's art works. Fu Baoshi, living in Nanjing, the captial of Liu Shunyuan's jurisdiction at that time, became friends with Liu. After Fu Baoshi return from a sketching trip to the North-eastern Provinces in 1961, he created some scenery and landscape paintings from memory for his friends and commissioners. This magnificent depiction of Mount Changbai is one of such art works form this period.
