A collection of photographs, majority publicity shots, 1940s-1970s, all framed, including: a black and white publicity photograph of Ava Gardner, signed and inscribed in black ink To Ed My Favourite "cop" in the whole world, love and kisses Ava -- 12x9in. (30.5x22.8cm.); Burt Reynolds, Gene Kelly, Buddy Ebsen, Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner, George Kennedy and Leslie Nielsen, all signed by subjects, majority -- 10x8in. (25.5x20.3cm.); and three unsigned including two of Elizabeth Taylor on the occasion of her first marriage to Conrad Hilton Jnr, 6th May, 1950, one with Ed Gaba; and one of Ava Gardner with Ed Gaba, largest -- 13x10.5cm.(33x26.cm.) The photographs in this lot were given by their subjects to Ed Gaba who lived and worked in Los Angeles at the time. Gaba initially worked as a stuntman in Hollywood before a stint in the army and a career with the Beverly Hills police force. He later progressed to Chief of Security for Goldwyn and Warner Brothers Studios. During his career he was responsible for looking after many Hollywood stars, with whom he became friends.
