A 'French maid's' costume, comprising a blue taffeta mini dress with corseted bodice, with white tulle apron attached with ruffled edges trimmed with imitation pearls, the shoulders and hem similarly embellished, with large white tulle bow to the back; with two labels inside, one green fabric label to the bodice inscribed in black ink in an unknown hand KEN 660, the other white fabric label to the skirt printed BBC LE MAID 1012/1; and a pink lace maid's cap decorated with a pink ribbon bow and two black ribbons to the back, with elasticated chin strap -- made for the BBC comedy sketch show The Kenny Everett Television Show, 1981-1988 (2)

Lot Essay

Kenny Everett had done a very similar show previously for Thames Television, The Kenny Everett Video Show, but defected to the BBC. Co-written with Barry Cyrer and Ray Cameron, Everett introduced some notable characters including Marcel Wave, Sid Snot, Gizzard Puke and Cupid Stunt, and the catch-phrase "all in the best possible taste.
