Lot Essay

The rifle, made by Lazar [Marne Maitland] for a fingerless assassin, is seen mounted in front of a firing range in his workshop when Bond arrives looking for the whereabouts of the infamous hit-man Francisco Scaramanga [Christopher Lee]. When Lazar refuses to co-operate, Bond uses the rifle to intimidate him into revealing that he makes bespoke golden bullets for Scaramanga, [see following lot] but he doesn't send them to him directly, they are sent via a courier, Scaramanga's girlfriend, Andrea Anders [Maud Adams].
