Lot Essay

Having located Carver's stealth boat, Bond and Wai Lin climb aboard to plant explosives. Wai Lin however is captured, and in the stand-off between Bond and Carver, Bond holds his P99 to Mr Gupta's head threatening to kill him before Carver's missile, aimed at Beijing, can be armed, and Carver holds his Sig Sauer to Wai Lin's head threatening to kill her. Gupta confirms the missile is ready to be launched so Carver shoots him with the words "It seems you've outlived your contract".
In his final stand-off with Bond, Carver takes Bond by surprise and aims his gun at his head, but Bond surreptiously activates the giant rotating serrated cogs in the path of which he pushes Carver to a grisly death.
