Lot Essay

Bond is seen using an identical gun in the virtual reality sequence where he finds Moneypenny dead, and M held hostage, in the London MI6 building during his rehabilitation prior to his mission to Iceland.
He also has the same P99 during the scene with Gustav's personal assistant, Miranda Frost [Rosamund Pike], who in reality is another British agent. Unbeknown to Bond, she's a double-agent working for Colonel Moon, who survived the fall in the opening sequence, and after gene therapy treatment, has assumed the identiy of Gustav Graves. Miranda swaps her gun with Bond's whilst they are in bed together, so that when her deception is revealed the following day, Bond's gun is now hers, and he has the disarmed gun.

EVERYONE CLEAR ?
This gun is photographed in SFX magazine, issue 98, p.55, where the serial number is clearly identifiable, and is also the gun featured on the front cover of Total Film magazine, issue 71, December, 2002.
