James Bond and Jinx are separately in pursuit of Zao and have arrived at Gustav Graves' Ice Palace for his public demonstration of "Icarus", his giant satellite which harnesses the power of the sun. Jinx uses the Tomcat when she tracks down Zao to Graves' private quarters where he is using the "dream machine". She is captured by Gustav who has her tortured in order to find out who she is, and what she wants with Zao.
